I would like some opinions on an issue at work.
The background is, and RN(on casual pool) I work with is not allowed to carry the drug keys, and not allowed to check any S4, or S8 drugs
The reason is because a number of months ago, on my very busy ward she was found to get out an S8 on her own. She stated it was administered to the patient. To make it worse, she forged the second signature of another nurse on the ward that was not even on duty.
Ok, my issue is.... I feell that being incharge on most shifts, I should have been made aware of this. To date, she has been basically evasive when asked to check out drugs or take keys. She just says things such as "cant now", or "busy" or BRB type reasons. As she has restrictions on her, and as a RN being in charge of the shift, i feel very strongly I should have know she had a restriction.
Secondly, I looked up APHRA... on APHRA, there are no restrictions against her name. This means , the hospital never reported the issue to APHRA. It dealt with it internally. To me, this is WRONG and against procedures.
Personally, I believe that where there is smoke, there is fire. The forging of a signature is the reason I have concerns, and I am not impressed the hospital has not dealt with this via the channels available.
What do you think? And what would you suggest I do/
