I'd be interested to hear from both hospital-based and home-birth midwives about this as I have lost touch with this issue. an important one though.

I am interested to know what others think about the government announcement today that there will be a two year 'grace' period during which midwives who attend births at home without being employed by the health service or an obstetrician will not be at risk of losing their registration.
What needs to be achieved in the next two and a half years so we don't face the same issue then?
