Innovative amateur film festival touches on some of healthcare's biggest issues and most intimate moments.

The NSWNA Film Festival premiered on 10 May featuring 14 short films written and produced by NSW Nurses - this is the second festival and it is expected it will become a regular event.

The brief to the Nurses was to produce a 5 minute telling a nursing story, it could be in any stle, documentary, comedy, drama, animation, horror or musical!

The film's provide a unique view of society through the eyes of nurses and present a number of evocative and provocative themes to the community - they also create a wonderful historical record of of NSW nursing in 2010.

Hi everyone

The NSW Nurses Short Film Festival is a wonderful opportunity for nurses to tell their stories.  I have participated in the film festival for the last few years and may I say I have learn't so much.  I was lucky to get sponsorship from the NSWNA to attend the NIDA 2 day course to learn about film making and editing, it was so much fun.  You can make a film on anything.  You don't need to have all of the professional equipment, you can even make a film using your mobile telephone. 

It would be great to talk to any nurses that are interested in making films and also to prior film makers for their tips, advice and support.  This is a unique industry opportunity.  I am happy to share any knowledge I have (I am just a beginner though).  Take a look at the films on the NSWNA website.  It is an amatuer film festival so anyone can do it and learn a lot about film making in the process.  Looking forward to your reply.
