Ok so here is the final update on the shoes, stethoscope and pen torch
As I previously mentioned, the shoes are superb and they are so super comfortable. I have been wearing them for weeks now and they continue to serve me well..... light, comfortable, clean and they are not showing any signs of wear and tear.
The Nurses Only Stethoscope - I was keen to use this as I had only ever used the really cheap hospital issue stethoscopes and then also a really expensive doctors stethoscope. So, i liked the idea of having my own and it working well. I was not disappointed. It is so nice to hear what is going on inside a child's chest with the Nurses Only stethoscope.The chest sounds were easy to hear and very clear. I listened to all kinds of patients chests and could clearly tell the difference between wheeze, creps, crackles, air entry and a heartbeat. It is a much heavier stethoscope than the hospital issue but it sits comfortably on your shoulders for long periods of time should you need it to. The ear pieces are comfortable and there are a spare set included in the box as well as a spare diaphragm for when the one in the stethoscope gets dented or damaged. I cleaned it multiple times a day between uses and it showed no signs of damage from the cleaning products. The tubing was a good lenth and meant I was close enough to the patient but not too close. All in all, I was thrilled with this stethoscope.
The Nurses Only Pen Torch - once again, I was thrilled to have my own pen torch and I particularly liked that mine came in pink! No other nurse on my ward has one like it!I have two uses for a pen torch- for neuro obs and also as a light to guide me in the middle of the night. I have always carried the hospital issue neuro torches in my pocket and one thing I hate is that you have to hold the silver bar on the side down for them to stay on. So, I was very pleased that the Nurses only pen torch had a click on and off so that it stays on when you need it to. The light is bright LED and it is a nice white light that when shone to the roof of a dark room gives of a nice glow. For neuro obs I would think you need to ensure you don't leave the light on the eye for very long as it is extremely bright but that said the light gives a really clear view of a pupil. You are able to change the battery when it runs out and therefore it is a one off torch purchase. I would highly recommend this torch and I love that it comes in a choice of colours, is affordable and works a treat.
