I finished my degree nearly four years ago and what i found was that try everything you are offered because it is the hands on learning that stays with you. Be patient with yourself and know that it is okay to make mistakes because you wont do it a second time. dont be hard on yourself and enjoy this time because once you become an RN its all hands on deck but in a good way. On your placements you will meet some good, some bad and some fantastic nurses but the one positive thing is that we are all in this together because if we dont support each other from the very beginging then we are all doomed

Yes I have one word of wisdom to tell you...... Enjoy! I started my nursing degree as a mature aged student (21) and there were many that were older than me infact maost were in their late 20's early 40's back in 1999. We had such a good time whilst at Uni, we truely enjoyed the 3 years as a student. Have fun with it, and enjoy every moment

I am a soon-to-be 28-year old who is taking a gamble on herself, and I begin my BN with the University of Tasmania's Launceston campus in a few short weeks.
I have always been drawn to nursing, but full of self doubt (and I think rightly so). Now that I have spent ten years maturing and experiencing out of high school I think I am ready to give it a proper go.
Any basic, basic pearls of wisdom I should take with me on my first day of class?
