Thanks for your feedback. I can see that you have a few suggestions here, namely:

1. Modify sign-up system in order to make it less 'threatening',

2. Have more people interacting in the forums, and

3. Remove the ability to edit the posts.

Did I miss anything else?

Anyway, out of the 3, we can probably look in to seeing if a change in #1 & #3 would be beneficial. I think #1 may be reviewed for sure. But, I have to say that in my experience in running forums for a few years now, that having the ability to edit is still better than not having one. Imagine, if you ended up posting something you completely regret later on. Having that ability to edit may be a lifesaver! I know what you mean about the downside, though. However, I still think that there are more upsides to being able to edit your posts than downsides.

On point #2 - We are still a relatively new site. And, people do tend to be a bit "shy" when it comes to posting. We can't make people post. But, we intend to encourage people to join in continuously. And also, participation can sometimes by cyclical. Some months will always be busier than others. I imagine closer to the holidays, it often gets quieter, as there are many things going on in people's lives. In any case, just like you, we're definitely hoping to attract more posters here. And, we're working on it! :-)

Hopefully, this helps to let you know where we're coming from on these matters. In any case, thanks again for the feedback! Always appreciated.

Just re-read your post. What sort of experts would you like to answer questions?

I haven't noticed that people edit after a comment is made. And thank you for explaining trolling to me. I think we get a lot of people viewing the threads but not commenting - maybe it's a case of watching and waiting to feel safe enough to make a comment. I also think that the silence may be a reflection of nursing culture - we are often too afraid to speak out in case of the consequences!

I really believe this to be an excellent place for nurses. Excellent in many ways.

1. an area to debrief.
2. an area for ideas in all aspects of nursing both local, state and National
3. I nice area to chat.

I am shocked that Nurse Uncut did not have a committeee of dedicated nurses (I can only see a couple) besides from the admin, that would just come on here and chat about all aspects of nursing .... I realise I am joined late and there was a lot of activity in July / August ... but since I have come in Sep there has been only approx 2 -3 other posters.

Where did all your support go?

This place is a great idea!

I do belive one of the main things that put me off this place is the warnings when you register to sign up .... we have enough stress in out lives.....

.... I felt so intimidated acually only put my initals and the first letter of my town ... and it was accepted .... and my e mail was the only correct thing I gave you .... and I have not wreaked the place. ( Big Smile )

Maybe you need to look at being brave and just having a e mail confirmation to register here and a better way for nurses to have full comtrol of their threads (able to delete trolls - ie unwanted, nusiance people who have added no value to their thread and are off the track).... even able to delete their own thread if they wish.

Also ... I believe we should not be able to edit our posts .... some one can write one thing ... then someone posts an answer ... then the original person goes and edits their orginal post and then the person who did reply looks like a goose.

If you post .... you be sure it is what you want before you put that button ....and if you wish to alter something you just post again with the correction ... like ....for example ...

there = their

My last point is that I can see many questions from new people that go unanswered ... please start a new section .... "ask the experts" ... then all these questions are in one place and can be found.
