Bernhard-Do hospitals have contracts with certain agencies to provide nurses first? For example, i have worked at a few hospitals, and see alot of agencies from NAA.Is that because the hospitals use them first or is it because they are one of the biggest?

If you want to beat the system, climb the management ladder, and become the D.O.N. then the complaints come to YOU. Why would anyone believe 'just an RN' unless your work was absolutely outstanding all the way (even then you can be reported for anything and still have to front the D.O.N.s office). Once reported, it's on-file, and the mark smudges with time and gets blacker with the years.Wherever you work, when you leave you need to subpoena all your records, then make a case of 'deleting' items if they shouldn't be there. As for 'bigW' - not knowing what the 'claim' against you was (real or fake), and not knowing your reputation there at the time, have you ever taken the matter to a solicitor (for a free opinion). I also publish an entertainment magazine....EVERYone wants to be a famous singer, so I steered many into different directions, like being the agent, being a sound engineer, being a roadie... now those people see MORE famous musicians, and often make much better money, with less stress. That nurses get treated like shit is a farce. Did you know if you are booked speeding, and don't notify the AHPRA, that should this surface later it gives reason to kick you in the teeth. If you argue, there'll be no work for 3,6,12 months etc, and then you'll be going to 'anger management classes' etc till you learn to obey the 'system'. Apart from that, there is a massive shortage of nurses, and not enough nursing agencies, so start one. I started about a dozen, ans still there aren't enough nurses. If you can't get a job, then it's either a)the way you approach them, or b)they are blocking you, so you need to either change the way you do a) or how to deal with b)(directly with meetings at client area, or via legal channels. Can contact me at bnanurses@gmail.com for info on agencies if the other options above don't work. There are some good solicitors around...

I rang a doctor up at three in the morning, and told him I'll report him to the HCCC for XYZ. The result? I'm the one who got reported for 'professional misconduct' ( ringing at 0300hrs. and he claims I 'abused' him ) Plus, management took it out on me further, with various intimidation, and eventually, I was sacked !!! What I was supposed to do ( so I was told ), was 'quietly' report it to management, and they would 'deal' with the matter ( which means, sweep it under the counter )

Wow, if you were a doctor who made the same mistake or started using drugs then you would get remedial training;counselling and a slap on the wrist - the whole matter buried! Amazing that we are held to a higher standard than those are meant to give us the orders - doctors.

Just look at rugby league players, they do worse stuff than most people and are always given second chances. They give them suspensions, councelling etc, but it seems in nursing, one strike and your out. Seems like management only care that the code of conduct are upheld and that policies are more priority than nurses welfare.

Try getting a job with disabilites in the community. Males are really appreciated as there are few working in group homes. You dont need to be registered and it is just a different environment to be working in. I am an EEN now but did this work previously and enjoyed it. Good Luck for the future.

Mate, your opening line says it all..... " Male RN ". I would probably get shot down in flames for openly saying this ( but it's the truth )..... men are not supposed to be Nursing ( according to certain female Nurse Managers ). Nursing Agencies are full of staff with just your issue ( and I'm in there with you ). But even the Agencies are getting more and more selective. Eventually, it will come to 'one strike, and you're out' ( for good - meaning loss of Registeration )

Hi everyone.

I am a Male RN who has been working fulltime in the same public hospital for the past 10 years with a unblemished record.I am HDU trained, was frequently incharge of the HDU and trained many new nurses.I did one accidental mistake at work and got terminated from my job and have lost heaps of money. And of course the hospital arent just happy i lose my job, but also got reported to APHRA.

Now everytime i go for a new nursing job, most of them are checking the nursing board or APHRA to see if ive ever been reported to it.And now its on my record and now employers are rejecting me.

I have a deed of release with my hospital which says it cant mention what happened or what led to my termination, but whats the point of that?My referees say im a good worker, but then get hammered from APHRA..

Are there any nursing jobs i can apply to or work in which dont check the nursing board or Aphra?

I work for a agency but there isnt much work out there.

I got wife and 4 kids and im getting bit older, i just want to work and earn some money.

I just want to be given another chance. There are all these nursing vacancies and now they want to increase the nurse ratios to 1:4 but i still cant find a job.

Any help appreciated.
