Welcome to the wonderful new-look Nurse Uncut! We started way back in 2010 and thought the time had come for a refresh. We’re keeping all the best aspects of the blog – your personal stories and explorations of difficult subjects, coverage of employment and unemployment issues, voices from all corners of the nursing and midwifery workplaces and from all around Australia.
To celebrate and mark this auspicious occasion, we have a contest with some really wow prizes, ranging from tickets to a sensational Opera House opening night concert by Vika Bull to a nursing kit that includes forceps scissors and pupil gauge penlight. *If you can’t make it to the Opera House, there are other prizes to be won – so still enter the contest and see what turns up.
- To be in with a chance to win, you must be an Australian resident who is a member of your nursing/midwifery union.
- And you simply have to sign-up to the Nurse Uncut e-newsletter. Don’t worry – we promise not to inundate your inbox! We send out a digest of our latest posts once every couple of weeks – you won’t want to miss them.
- If you are already a subscriber and want to enter this contest, tell us that via the contact form on our blog.
Thank you to Vika Bull for our first lot of prizes – Vika’s mother came to Australia from Tonga to study nursing and Vika says “my mum was a great nurse”.
First prize – actually not just for one but for four people! – is 2 x premium double passes (includes a drink per ticket, worth $119 each) to see Vika Bull and her band at the Sydney Opera House in At Last – the Etta James Story on opening night, Tuesday 12 July.
This smash-hit show saw its world premiere in 2013 and since then has played to packed houses and thunderous applause throughout Australia and New Zealand. It returns once more to the Sydney Opera House – for one week only!
Starring the sensational Vika Bull, At Last tells the story of soul legend Etta James’ turbulent life. Vika puts her heart and soul into this unforgettable show and is joined on stage by some Australia’s finest and funkiest musicians.
Second prize is 1 x A Reserve double pass to see At Last – the Etta James Story.
Third prize is four CDs of the At Last show.
Wait, there’s more!
Fourth prize is a Medshop Advanced Nursing Utility Kit, featuring stainless steel scissors, a pupil gauge disposable penlight, a Clic-Open ampoule opener, a keyring CPR face shield, bandage scissors, a Betty Boop ID tag DISC, a silicone fob watch, stainless steel forceps – and even more!
The next prize-winner will receive a Medshop Basic Nursing Utility Kit, again including stainless steel scissors, a pupil gauge disposable penlight, a silicone fob watch, stainless steel forceps, a pocket pouch – and more!
