Occupational Health And Safety Essentials For Nurses
The NSWNA is an industrial and professional organisation for nurses. The Association represents all level of nurses, employees through to management, and all nursing specialties.
NSWNA’s OHS focus is on the prevention of injuries and the fair and equitable treatment of nurses who are injured at work or develop a work-related illness. Nurses have the right to work in an environment that does not threaten their health, safety or welfare and NSWNA will do everything in its power to protect and enforce this right.
NSWNA provides members with up-to-date advice on OHS issues, both current and emerging (eg. manual handling, violence, latex, legislative changes), and also works with employers and Government and OHS issues relevant to nurses in order to develop protective legislation and policies.
To this end, NSWNA employs professional OHS officers as well as organisers and information officers, each with considerable experience and commitment to OHS. Publications such as The Lamp, the official journal or NSWNA, regularly feature articles on topical OHS issues.
