One2Four – The Way To Safe Patient Care. Nurses, YOU can help!

We’d love to have your attention on a matter which we think is extremely important.

In Victoria, hospitals have official ratios of one nurse to every four patients. However in NSW, hospitals have NO MANDATORY NURSE STAFFING LEVELS at all.  That’s BAD for nurses, and WORSE for patients.

For safe patient care, NSW hospitals need a mandatory ratio of one nurse to every four patients.

The NSW Nurses’ Association has launched a new website one2four to encourage nurses to get active to support the campaign.

To help achieve this join the NSW Nurses’ Association in sending a message to government, demanding safe nurses to patient ratio of one2four.

How do you help?

We hope every Nurse Uncut member will get active and join the campaign!

Why don’t you leave your comment on here as well as in our forum at Nurse Uncut to show your support?

This campaign is also striving for a 1:7 ratio on night shift. At the moment we are working at 1:8-10, and all post-op patients – can be very dangerous, and patients are not getting the quality care they deserve

    1 : 7 at night ??? What a luxury !!!

Whilst Night RN at an Illawarra Region private hospital last year, I could have up to 31 ( yes, thirty – one ) patients I was responsible for. This included the post ops that day, those JUST COMING BACK from Recovery ( like ten minutes before my shift starts ), peads overnighters ( complete with demanding mothers also staying in same room !! )

Sure, I had an EN with me ( the two of us for up to 31 patients ).

The employer said we could have an AIN if the number went above 31. Gee, thanks boss !!!

Hi, I am a new grad in my first few months of working full time. About a month ago i had 14 patients on an acute surgical ward with an AIN, i broke down and cried trying to hand over because i didn’t know anything about my patients……
