Assistant in Midwifery (AIM) Study


An exploration of the Assistant in Midwifery (AIM) role in NSW Hospitals

You are invited to participate in a research study being conducted by Dr Elaine Burns, Amy Hargreaves, Hazel Keedle, Dr Rakime Elmir, Dr Zoi Triandafilidis, Meg Hitchick and Oceane Campbell. This project is a partnership between Western Sydney University and the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association. The research seeks to explore the role of Assistants in Midwifery working in NSW acute care hospital settings. To participate in this study you need to currently be employed as an AIM in NSW OR have been employed as an AIM in NSW in the past 5 years.

What will I be asked to do?

We invite you to complete an anonymous survey about your experiences working as an AIM. If you are interested in also taking part in a follow-up in-depth interview about your experiences as an AIM, online using Zoom, we invite you to leave your contact details at the end of the survey. If you choose to leave your contact details they will not be matched with your survey results.

How much of my time will I need to give?

The anonymous survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and the interview (if you choose to nominate) may take up to one hour.
