St John of God Health Care (SJGHC) has been operating the capacity building Nursing Development Program in Timor-Leste since 2010, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
We are now seeking to expand our team of nurses based in Dili, who are working alongside Timorese nurses to assist in the process of building their nursing and midwifery knowledge and skills.
We are interested in hearing from nurses with the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Paediatric Nurse
- Nurse Educator
The successful candidates will be offered a two year fixed term contract working 76 hours a fortnight, expected to commence in March 2017 or by negotiation.
More information about our capacity building work in Timor-Leste and other neighbouring countries can be found at http://www.sjog.org.au/social_outreach/international.aspx
Working and domestic environments you will encounter in Timor-Leste are far removed from those most people come to expect in Australia, and candidates must be resilient and patient. Our caregivers must be prepared to go the extra distance to ensure support for our development programs is sustainable in the long term.
The programs operated by St John of God Health Care are part of a wider commitment to Timor-Leste which include long-term Pathology and Nursing Development Programs. Our work in Timor-Leste has been recognised by the Ministry of Health as amongst the most successful by a non-government agency since the country’s independence.
